These days I am trying to accomplish one of my 2009 New Year’s resolutions: Learn Ruby on Rails and be able to prototype, code and design one functional web application (you know, I’m in exams time…)
I have already worked with Ruby on Rails before, but only from the designer’s point of view: being able to implement my designs without the application to crash. Anyway the workflow with RoR, the philosophy behind and its singularities definitely definitely hooked me. Furthermore I must say to my own shame that I have only coded in C programming language in order to pass my practical lessons at the University.
To gain an insight into what I am talking about let’s face a real problem with which I had to deal while I am building this application.

The other day I was watching TV while I stumbled upon an interview with Eduard Punset, the writer and scientific. He was promoting his book “Por qué somos como somos” and that reminded me I had this post in drafts for some time.
I love the situations, the memorable quotes, the people – like Punset himself – that make me think and make my brain exercise; and some time ago I read or listened the question “How could I stop being myself?”. It has took me ages to find the source googling since the vast majority are self-help entries that have nothing to do what the topic I’m talking about; anyway it certainly belongs to the Marketing guru Geoffrey Moore and his book Crossing the Chasm, which deals with innovation at the enterprise.
How could anybody stop being oneself?

It is one year since I first met you.
I went to get my lip pierced because I needed to change things in my life and this way I wouldn’t forget anymore. You came, and also changes did with you. And I can’t forget, in fact I can remember as if it was yesterday, and today I hardly can believe it.
Thanks for coming to my life. Whatever happens, I will always be with you; remember it’s signed somewhere.
The studying season has started for me -yes, I’m being serious; April’s Fools was yesterday-, so soon for some, so later for others. Anyway as I’m committed to pass these exams no matter what, I decided to spoil myself with some treats in order to make it more bearable.
Well, maybe three new rolling ball pens and note paper to take my notes aren’t the kind of thing that the majority would buy to treat themselves; I do, and I’m sure some know what I’m talking about.
