Well, maybe three new rolling ball pens and note paper to take my notes aren’t the kind of thing that the majority would buy to treat themselves; I do, and I’m sure some know what I’m talking about.

Besides this, I also bought a replacement for the Moleskine I had stolen almost half a year ago. In fact it’s not a Moleskine; it has its hard black cover, its elastic band, its 90 squared cream 80 grams sheets, its back pocket… but it is from Papyrus, a stationery firm with the name of a well-worn font. I’m not such a fanboy so let’s see if it fits me and I will tell you; I will mainly use it as a journal and sketch book with which I will run around.

But here comes the dilemma, I don’t know what pen to use to write down it. I have taken a look at some possibilities, but I’m not 100% sure about making a right decision. Basically I’d rather a rolling ball or gel pen which draws fat lines. These are the candidates:

• Sharpie: I’m almost in love with it except for it bleeds. But wait, there’s still hope!
• Pilot G2: The one which I think to have the most comfortable writing and the winner by now.
• Staedtler non-permanent Lumocolor M: Yes, it is the name for a pen.

I know you may think I am absolutely insane for making decisions about what pen to use instead of drawing with the first one I find. But it’s not that abnormal (or at least it’s what I like to think). People do mind these things! Designers, indeed!
