The studying season has started for me -yes, I’m being serious; April’s Fools was yesterday-, so soon for some, so later for others. Anyway as I’m committed to pass these exams no matter what, I decided to spoil myself with some treats in order to make it more bearable.

Well, maybe three new rolling ball pens and note paper to take my notes aren’t the kind of thing that the majority would buy to treat themselves; I do, and I’m sure some know what I’m talking about.

Besides this, I also bought a replacement for the Moleskine I had stolen almost half a year ago. In fact it’s not a Moleskine; it has its hard black cover, its elastic band, its 90 squared cream 80 grams sheets, its back pocket… but it is from Papyrus, a stationery firm with the name of a well-worn font. I’m not such a fanboy so let’s see if it fits me and I will tell you; I will mainly use it as a journal and sketch book with which I will run around.

But here comes the dilemma, I don’t know what pen to use to write down it. I have taken a look at some possibilities, but I’m not 100% sure about making a right decision. Basically I’d rather a rolling ball or gel pen which draws fat lines. These are the candidates:

Sharpie: I’m almost in love with it except for it bleeds. But wait, there’s still hope!

Pilot G2: The one which I think to have the most comfortable writing and the winner by now.

Staedtler non-permanent Lumocolor M: Yes, it is the name for a pen.

I know you may think I am absolutely insane for making decisions about what pen to use instead of drawing with the first one I find. But it’s not that abnormal (or at least it’s what I like to think). People do mind these things! Designers, indeed! I invite you to take a look at this delicious report about the research of the perfect pen and the perfect notebook.

Furthermore, if you still don’t believe me many communities have grown around these little objects of desire, being Moleskinerie the most famous example of this.

Do you have any unmentionable fetish? Tell me, I won’t say a word
